Jeremiah Rashad-Scott Kollman

We are so proud of Jeremiah...Thank you for the kind words. We are so thankful God allowed us to be

Derek and Cathy were truly extremely helpful to me during a challenging time in my life. When I first met them, I felt at my lowest, as if nobody cared and I was alone, feeling unworthy of help after countless doors had closed on me. It all began with a phone call that allowed me to explain my situation, and for the first time, it felt like someone saw me as a real person, not just a homeless man. They acted swiftly, providing me with food, a sleeping bag, and essential supplies, and they made a plan that not only included getting me into a shelter but also finding affordable housing and job training opportunities. Our first meeting took place in the parking lot of the county jail where I had been sleeping. There was no judgment, just smiles, kindness, and their adorable dog. That was one of the first times in months I didn’t feel isolated; I sensed I had someone in my corner to help me navigate my problems. Derek and Cathy are wonderful people who take action, inviting you in and genuinely investing time in nurturing your mind and soul, all without seeking recognition or applause. They embody a mission they believe is driven by a higher purpose. While many organizations show up on Sundays to capture photos, making those in need feel like a spectacle, Derek and Cathy are there when it really counts—like on a Wednesday when you’re feeling overwhelmed. They truly set themselves apart through their commitment to re-entry programs, remaining just a phone call or text away. They actively check in on you, come to see how you’re doing, and help you engage in activities that not only uplift you but also connect you with the community, offering spiritual support and a sense of belonging. You don’t need to navigate through endless phone menus or schedule appointments; they are always present when you need them. I am incredibly grateful that God brought us together, and I sincerely hope that you too experience their kindness, as they are more than exceptional—they reflect the message of love and support that Jesus called us all to embrace, embodying the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

Exploring Faith and Spirituality

The Role of Faith in Overcoming Adversity

My name is Freddie. I was recently released from the RSAT program at Coastal State prison. Due to my past record, I faced numerous challenges, including pressure from my PO, difficulty finding a job, lack of transportation, and nearly facing homelessness. Throughout this journey, my brother Derek, whom I had only met once, and Lowcountry Prison Ministries provided me with unparalleled support. They offered spiritual support, peer support, and guidance through re-entry programs that helped me navigate this difficult transition. They even sent daily devotionals and inspirational messages. Since I'm not from this area, brother Derek had to go above and beyond to assist me, demonstrating true dedication. I am especially grateful to Lowcountry Prison Ministries for extending their efforts beyond their jurisdiction to help me secure affordable housing and job training opportunities. May God bless Lowcountry Prison Ministries and especially brother Derek. I love you, my brother, and may God continue to anoint your ministry.
